This workshop analyses lessons learned from the COVID-19 experience of border management, and implications for integrating public health and border management going forward. Over two years into this pandemic, there remains no consensus on how to prevent another global mobility shutdown in response to the next pandemic. Drawing on examples from the Canada-US border and Australia, as well as global practices and risk frameworks, the workshop will take stock of social, economic, and political impacts of border restrictions, and examine the evidence on best practices for managing health risks around cross-border mobility.
